Communication Ettiquette
How do your employees act when they are out in the field? Does your chimney sweeping or hearth company have a set of etiquette rules for them to follow? Or do you trust their judgment? Here are some questions to bring up at your next company meeting.
When do your employees take phone calls during the day? Their answers might surprise you: driving, climbing the ladder, talking to the customer, in the local McDonald's. It might surprise you.
Is it OK for them to turn their phone off? If they have an accident while climbing the ladder and answering your call than whose fault is it if this is not in your policies?
Do they text, email or post on Facebook during the day? What are the rules about posting in regards to their job?
Where do your employees go after they leave work with their company tee shirt on?
These are some important questions to ask your employees. They answers might surprise you. If it’s not in your policies and procedures it could come back to bite you. Initiate this conversation. Many times feedback from fellow employees will help reinforce your point.
