Here We Go Again!

In just a couple of weeks children will be going back to school. For many people this is the time their mind set changes from summer to fall, and of course that means “here we go again” into a much more demanding schedule.

For many of us it will be running from one job to another, six or seven days a week. Wow, seven days a week, that sounds like some kind of Eastern Culture. That’s true, in China or Japan it is typical to work seven days a week.
Did you know that in Europe a 36 – hour workweek is standard? So are six weeks of vacation.

That hasn’t stopped Europeans from being productive.
They were at the forefront of cell phone technology and jet liner sales, just to mention two.

If you feel guilty about changing your approach to work, take a cue from the Europeans and learn to balance your work with some leisure.

Try to cut back your hours. Maybe by simply deciding you’ll only work until a certain time each day no matter what. Ask your spouse to help you stick to a schedule that you have agreed on.

Always take your lunch break. You don’t always accomplish more when you work through lunch or eat it as you are driving to your next job.
Fatigue can make you less productive and greatly increase the chance of having an accident. Aim to get out of your truck or away from your desk for at least one-half hour every day. Go sit in the park, take a walk or take a little nap.

Einstein said, “Imagination is more important than Information.” Imagination opens our minds up to new possibilities. But, you’ll never be able to engage your imagination if you have scheduled something for every minute of every day.
