CrownCoat Brushable Sealant

Directions For Use:

Weather Conditions: Surface and air temperature should be a minimum of 45° F but not greater than 95° F at the time of application. Do not apply if temperature is expected to drop below 45° F within a 4 hour period. Do not apply to frozen or frost covered surfaces. Do not apply to wet or water saturated surfaces and/or when rainfall is expected within 4 hours unless adequate protection with a polyethylene film or its equivalent is provided.

Surface Preparation: Surface to be coated must be structurally sound, not loose. Surface must be clean and dry. Protect roof from inadvertent spills. Brush surface to be coated with a stiff poly brush to remove loose particles. Larger cracks and voids can be filled with fast setting patching cement or premium grade, siliconized, acrylic latex caulking. CrownCoat Brushable Sealant may be applied over top of the caulk before it cures as the siliconized, acrylic latex caulk will cure underneath the product.

Pro Tips:

• To produce a clean edge and protect the brick just below the crown, place duct tape completely over the face of the top course or row of brick. Tape can also be applied to the flue tile approximately one inch from base of tile to produce a clean edge for CrownCoat Brushable Sealant. Remove tape when application is completed.

Application:


Begin by using a spray bottle to lightly mist the crown with water, but do not flood. Misting with water will help to cool a warm chimney crown as well as improve both the penetration, and adhesion of CrownCoat Brushable Sealant. Using a 3” or 4” synthetic bristle paint brush (not included), brush a thin coat over entire crown; working material into the crown as if applying a thin coat of paint. Wait a few minutes after applying first coat for product to form a tacky film. Brush a second, heavier coat of the product over the first coat.

Drying time: Dries to touch in 30 - 60 minutes. Product cures completely within two to four hours depending on temperature and humidity.

Coverage: Two coats will cover approximately 40 square feet per gallon depending on texture and porosity of surface to be coated.
