These high-quality dampers are designed by professional chimney sweeps and guaranteed to provide an energy efficient and cost-effective option when sealing the top of your chimney.

A chimney without a cap allows moisture from rain and snow to be absorbed into the inner flue tile, outer bricks and mortar. When this trapped moisture goes through a freeze/thaw cycle, the integrity of the chimney’s structure becomes compromised, creating a safety hazard. Home heating and cooling costs can escalate when a proper damper is not installed, allowing air to escape through the chimney flue. At the same time, wildlife, insects and debris can create further hazards inside an uncovered chimney flue.

What makes the Energy Top Damper so unique is the soft, pliable rubber gasket seal attached to the frame that compresses and conforms to the lid when closed and acts as a chimney cap. Designed with a cast-aluminum lid and stronger spring, this damper is easier to open and close while still creating an air-tight seal at the top of the chimney. When closed, this low profile damper is a great solution for saving “paid” energy dollars for historical homes with leaky or missing dampers. Heat loss up the fireplace chimney accounts for an average 8% of your home heating costs - the Energy Top Damper helps prevent this heat loss.

The Energy Top Dampers are made for use only with open wood burning masonry fireplace chimneys and are not suitable for use on chimneys serving vented gas logs. Vented gas logs require the fireplace damper to be removed completely or fixed to a permanently open position; this is to assure that soot, fumes and carbon monoxide do not enter your home. Use this damper only on vent-free gas logs if approved by the appliance manufacturer and the local authority having jurisdiction.

The Energy Top Damper does not require a fire safety device, is made of the highest quality material allowing for easy operation and comes completely assembled and ready to install.

The RS Adapter (sold separately) can be used to convert the Energy Top Plus Damper to fit a round liner or solid-pack, class "A" pipe.

This damper comes with a hardware kit, 29' cable and handle. The hardware kit includes a chain assembly, keyhole bracket, silicone, two nail anchors, Allen wrench and instructions. The Energy Top Damper carries a limited lifetime warranty and has available accessories.
